PATHWAYS PROGRAM

Empowering tribal families and building futures

Clearing the path to career opportunities for tribal youth and adults through dedicated STEM education and skilled trade pathways within the Mno-Bmadsen family network.

We are dedicated to providing youth and adults with access to resources that lead to gainful employment

The Pathways Program connects tribal youth and adults to opportunities within the Mno-Bmadsen family of companies or network of business partners. For youth, Pathways offers exposure to career opportunities available within our companies that focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). For adults, Pathways coordinates and refers citizens to open employment opportunities with ongoing construction projects within the Mno-Bmadsen family of companies and network of business partners.

The Pathways Program is open to all tribal citizens entering or re-entering the workforce at any age. Pokagon tribal citizens, spouses, custodial parents of Pokagon children, and tribal citizens from other tribes are encouraged and welcome.

Youth

Opportunities available to youth in STEM related career fields are increasing rapidly. To prepare tribal youth for these opportunities, Pathways coordinates with the Pokagon Band Department of Education to offer multiple visits a year to engage with projects associated with Mno-Bmadsen family of companies. These visits have included trips to D.A. Dodd in Benton Harbor, MI, where staff showed youth how to make prefabricate pipes with automatic welders, and to Seven Generations Architecture + Engineering, in Kalamazoo, MI, where youth got an inside peek at the possibilities associated with 3-D printing. Keep an eye on the tribal newsletter and social media for information on the next scheduled trip!

adults

Mno- Bmadsen Pathways oversees tribal preference compliance for Four Winds Casinos and Tribal Government construction projects. Employment opportunities tend to be related to the trades with a great need for skilled workers. Contractors are committed to supporting Pokagon families and hiring qualified tribal citizens whenever possible and Pathways coordinates with contractors to fill active employment needs, including opportunities for skilled workers as well as pre-apprentices and 1st year apprentices who receive on-the-job training. Additional resources are shared if a citizen is inclined to pursue official training in the trades and join a union.
