Mno-Bmadsen is the non-gaming investment arm of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians (the “Tribe”). This independently managed instrumentality of the Tribe was launched in 2012 with the mandate to diversify the Pokagon Band’s business interests, revenue streams and wealth for future generations. We do this by investing some of the treasury from the Tribe’s gaming enterprise and returns generated by Mno-Bmadsen’s investments.
Our Mission is to advance the long-term economic self-sufficiency for our Band by acquiring existing and well-managed companies that are generating profits and have prospects for long-term viability. We buy, hold and grow the Mno-Bmadsen Family of Companies.
The Director of Finance provides financial leadership to Mno-Bmadsen by providing accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring adequate controls are in place, ensuring processes and procedures are operating effectively with the goal of maximizing company profits. The Director of Finance performs data analysis, creates financial reports, assists with investment strategies, and develops long-term financial goals for Mno-Bmasen. The Director of Finance creates and maintains a culture of compliance and organizational excellence through collaboration with accounting staff and management.
The following duties represent a sample of work routinely performed by the Director of Finance:
Oversees the financial functions of the Mno-Bmadsen Family of Companies ensuring the timely efficient and effective financial organization and reporting of the Company.
Effectively manages, analyzes, and regularly reports on the financial operations of the Mno-Bmadsen Family of Companies to the CEO; and effectively oversees the Company as requested by the CEO during his absence.
Effectively coordinates with the CEO to develop and implement short and long-term financial objectives for Mno-Bmadsen.
Diligently ensures Mno-Bmadsen and the Family of Companies conformity with applicable principles and practices set by GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board), GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board), FAF (Financial Accounting Foundation), in addition to applicable tribal laws and regulations.
Develops and recommends financial control policy and procedures to ensure validity of the company’s financial statements and reporting, including effective management of cash, debt and purchasing.
Oversees the preparation of Mno-Bmadsen and its operating companies financial statements and performance reports.
Develops a reliable cash flow and modeling projection process for Mno-Bmadsen and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs of the operating companies. Assists with projecting cash flows of Mno-Bmadsen for investment capital deployment.
Evaluates the finance and accounting structure of Mno-Bmadsen and its Family of Companies for continual improvement and manages direct reports using, in part, professional growth plans targeting effective performance and encouraging professional growth.
Assists with financial feasibility analysis for prospective business concepts, acquisitions and real estate investments.
Actively participates in business deals, due diligence and integration processes, including recommendation of investments, divestitures.
Prepares reporting for presentation for the CEO and Board of Directors which illustrates the past, present and future financial strengths and weaknesses of Mno-Bmadsen and the Family of Companies, with recommendations for its long-term profitability and growth potential.
Collaborates with the CEO and Board of Directors on long-term financial planning, financial control, profitability, accounting systems, and insurance coverage.
Collaborates with the CEO to advise the Board of Directors on investments for maximum profits while minimizing risks.
Participates in the financial analysis and reports prior to business acquisitions and investment decisions and collaborates with the CEO regarding same.
Provides leadership and direction to company level accounting staff in the resolution of complex business issues and maximization of long-term profitability of holdings.
Meets with accounting staff to resolve complex business issues to ensure prompt and timely financial reporting and financial sustainability in the Company’s various businesses.
Other duties as driven by organizational needs, professional initiative, and as requested by the CEO.
Candidates for the position of the Director of Finance must meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with accounting emphasis. Certified Public Accountant preferred.
5 or more years of experience as a Director of Finance.
10 or more years of experience performing private sector accounting, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and financial analysis.
Proficient with short and long term finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Past financial responsibility for annual revenues of $100 million or more preferred.
Proficient with financial data compilation and analysis, financial report preparation, including P&L, and Balance Sheets, financial statements and projections; and able to logically verbalize and write analysis and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Highly skilled in the preparation and presentation of financial reports.
Proficient with applicable principles and practices set by GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board), GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board), FAF (Financial Accounting Foundation), in addition to applicable tribal laws and regulations.
Exposure to investment portfolios holdings both liquid and illiquid investments preferred.
Experience in negotiating credit facilities.
Proficient use of financial and accounting computer programs and reporting systems.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience sufficient to perform the leadership function and duties of the position.

The Director of Financer is a direct report of the Mno-Bmadsen Chief Executive Officer.
